Mountain Tours and Travels was humbly started by a trekking guide and a senior certified Instructor of the renowned Himalayan Mountaineering Institutes 30 years ago in the year 1991 in the Village of Sikkim, Yuksam.

Founder Ang Sherap Sherpa said “Initially it was for the love of Mountains and Adventure and slowly it became a part of life and living. In the beginning, it was difficult to promote and run an adventure tourism business from such a remote region of Sikkim with no means of digital communication and contact with the cities and metros”. However, sheer determination, hard work, some lady luck, and words of mouth from valuable clients are what helped the company to move ahead…

Presently his son Mingma Tshering Sherpa, an avid trekker, adventurer, climber, and tech-friendly lad takes care of the company with constant close guidance from his Father.

Mountain Tours & Travels was officially established in the year 1991, however, the foundation was already laid in the year 1953 when the British expedition team successfully climbed Mount Everest. Lt. Da Namgyal Sherpa, a renowned mountaineer and a member of the first successful Everest Expedition team is the father of founder Ang Sherap Sherpa and the main motivation behind the establishment of the company. It was his vision, desire, and hard work that Inspire the Sherpa family to establish the Trekking company in Sikkim. Today Mountain Tours and Travels is proud to be one of the most reputed and successful Trekking companies in Sikkim.
